❄️ 🚨 BLIZZARD ALERT: A blizzard warning has been issued for all five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, and much of New Jersey as a classic nor’easter threatens to drop up to a foot of snow across the metro area from Sunday afternoon into Monday—a level of snowfall the city hasn’t seen in nine years. Snowfall rates could reach up to 2 inches per hour, with sustained winds of at least 35 mph and visibility reduced to a quarter mile or less, meeting the criteria for a blizzard warning.

This weekend, another significant winter storm is forecast to impact the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast U.S. Sunday through Monday. New Jersey to southeastern New England may experience blizzard conditions, with heavy snowfall and strong winds. We are anticipating that coastal areas will experience the highest impacts, with the greatest snowfall totals and strongest wind gusts anticipated. Despite the Democrat shutdown, DHS is working with state and local authorities, and @FEMA to coordinate closely with state and local authorities and prepare for this storm.   We ask that you stay home, stay safe, stay warm, and stay off the roads to avoid these adverse weather conditions. Snowfall is expected across the region today. In the lowlands, marginal temperatures likely keep wet snow accumulations mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces. In the PA/WV ridges, a heavier snow falls and totals can reach above a foot at the highest elevations.
