I just walked by to see that our littlest one, named Beatrix, was in her bed reading a Peter Rabbit book.
“Mommy what are she’s names?” she asked, pointing to a row of little bunnies in their beds.
“That’s Flopsy…” I said.
She smiled, and her shoulders scrunched up in delight.
“And that’s Mopsy…” I said.
More smiles, more delight.
“And that one is Cottontail!!!”
She stared and stared at the picture, just entranced.
“I never knew them!” she said. “I never knew their names!”
And now she does know them. 😭 Introducing kids to their book friends is one of the highest honors of motherhood.
