In fact it was quite the opposite. My siblings are mean, cruel, and hateful. My now deceased SIL (an alcoholic punch me in the face at a restaurant). And about a decade ago I realized, there comes a point where you stop mourning those kind of people because its a perpetual disappointment. I started to acknowledge the absence of what family was supposed to be. So what did I do, I set out to build my own family from friends who actually show up. That was the healthiest decision I ever made. And I promise you that is the decision now before the PPoW. Chose wisely.
