On her birthday, we want to celebrate actress Greta Scacchi who has made her mark in Australian cinema for over four decades!
Β
Greta broke into Australian television when she won a Logie for Waterfront (1984) and followed it with lead movie roles in The Coca-Cola Kid (1985) and Burke & Wills (1985).
Β
The next seven years took her overseas and into the path of Robert Altman, who cast Scacchi to co-star in The Player (1992) alongside Tim Robbins.
Β
After a brief stint in Australia for Country Life (1994) with Sam Neill, Greta cemented her status as a screen icon as she featured in Emma (1996) and won an Emmy for Rasputin (1996).
Β
Director Kate Woods ushered Scacchi back for two collaborations, Looking for Alibrandi (2000) and The Farm (2001), which all but confirmed her as one of the best actors to work in Australia.
Β
Since, she has featured in Walter Hill's Broken Trail (2006) and most recently the Australian horror Run Rabbit Run (2025) and television drama Darby and Joan with Bryan Brown.
We continue to follow her career keenly!
