When a Saudi accounts (especially those posting in Arabic ) openly promotes hate speech against UAE and its president claiming that UAE is the “second enemy after Iran” and accusing MBZ of fighting Islam simply because the country tolerates other religions and allows churches and temples for non-Muslims, this becomes a serious issue.
It is even more concerning when you look at the comments and see people praising and agreeing on the accusation that MBZ is a greater threat than ISIS, Al-Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbollah, the Houthi Movement, the Al-Nusra Front, or even Iran, which has repeatedly threatened and attacked Saudi Arabia.
When an entire online community and Saudi media views religious tolerance as a threat to Islam، labels any country that normalizes relations with Israel as “Zionist” and considers any country goes against their well is a national threat !! it reveals a deep conflicting. The same voices curse anyone who supports UAE praising people who drill back hate and Jihadi speech.
Saudi Arabia has worked hard to promote the image of new modern, moderate, tolerant, and accepting of diversity generation (especially in English-language messaging) in short ( peace makers in English, hate spreads in Arabic)
Promoting peace and moderation in one language while spreading hostility in another suggests that the real change may be more about image than substance.
