HORRIFIC NEWS: The Jerusalem District Court yesterday rejected a petition seeking to allow five-year-old Mohammad Ahmad Abu Asad from Gaza, who is suffering from aggressive cancer, to receive life-saving medical treatment in Israel because his address is listed in Gaza.
Mohammad is suffering from leukemia and is currently in intensive care at Istishari Hospital in Ramallah. He urgently requires a bone marrow transplant — a procedure available only at Tel HaShomer Hospital, which has already agreed to receive and treat him. The treatment is fully funded, and an official medical referral has been issued.
His family has appealed repeatedly. Israeli human rights organizations, including Gisha, intervened and filed a petition. Despite this, Israeli authorities continue to deny him a permit to cross the checkpoint in an ambulance, citing “security reasons.” In its response, Israel stated that entry into Israel “for any purpose whatsoever” is prohibited for individuals whose address is listed in Gaza.
A five-year-old child is waiting for treatment that could save his life.
Save Mohammad’s life.
Let him through.
Let him live.
