I fell in love with Wizkid because of my brother. I was very young then, but I saw how deeply he loved him. When we were in secondary school and Wizkid dropped Come Closer, it was a big moment for us. Anytime we were coming back from school, we would stop at a local bar in our area where they showed DSTV, especially MTV Base. My brother would say, “Let’s wait, maybe they’ll show Wizkid.” We did that almost every day 😂. And whenever they played any Wizkid video, especially Come Closer, you just knew the song was trending like crazy. My brother would be so happy. Even the workers at the bar knew him because of how much he loved Wizkid. He could wait there for hours just to watch his videos. Back then, he had a small phone, so it was very hard to watch music videos. I didn’t even have a phone, and my dad only subscribed to our DSTV once a year—for just one month 🤣. I can’t fully explain how much my brother loved Wizkid. And honestly, that’s the reason I love him so much too.
