🇨🇳 China abstained on the US-drafted Gaza resolution, calling it “deeply worrisome” and “incomplete.” As a permanent Security Council member, Beijing could have vetoed the proposal but chose not to. Its UN envoy Fu Cong said the text “doesn’t demonstrate the fundamental principle of Palestinians governing Palestine,” stressing that “Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people, not to anyone else.”
Additionally, he warned the US provided no details on the International Stabilization Force or the Trump-led Board of Peace, including their “structure, composition, terms of reference and criteria of preparation.” Fu also said the resolution fails to ensure meaningful UN or Security Council oversight.
